In his own words
A street on a Tuesday morning is a different place on a Saturday in July
I have biked The Strand for years. It runs through Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, so I have covered all three waterfronts. A street on a Tuesday morning is a different place on a Saturday in July, and that difference can decide whether you are happy in the house you bought.
I came to real estate from aviation, then finance, then about twenty years managing technology projects. That last one is largely the work of keeping something complicated organized and moving while several parties want different things, which describes most escrows I have been part of.
If you keep a boat
Where you berth belongs in the search from the start
I sail Santa Monica Bay out of Marina del Rey. If you own a boat or plan to, that belongs in the search from the start rather than after you have chosen a house. Where you berth, how far the slip is from your front door, whether a harbor has openings for your length and draft, and what a slip costs each year sit alongside price, lot size and distance from the beach. King Harbor is in Redondo Beach; Marina del Rey is a short drive north. Which one suits you depends on the boat, and it is worth settling that before you settle on a neighborhood. The practical detail is on the South Bay Lifestyle page.
How he works
Present the options and compare them honestly
I start by asking which factors matter most to you: distance from the beach, lot size, housing type, parking, the neighborhood, and most certainly price. My preference is to present the relevant options and compare them honestly. If I believe a particular property or location does not justify the premium for your priorities, I will say so. The South Bay may not be the right answer for every buyer.
Buying in Southern California is complicated, particularly when you are relocating from somewhere else. Los Angeles County offers a great many choices, and the South Bay and Beach Cities are among the most sought after and the hardest to sort through.
My job is to take the stress out of that process, make your options simple and easy to understand, and put you in a position to decide with confidence.
