Beryl Heights / Central South Redondo in Redondo Beach

The neighborhood

What buyers should know

Beryl Heights is in central South Redondo, west of Prospect Avenue. It is an established residential area with winding streets, sloping lots and an elevated location that gives some homes ocean or territorial views. Much of the original neighborhood was developed with postwar single-family homes, and many of those have since been remodeled, expanded or replaced.

The lots here are also quite different from the narrow lots associated with parts of North Redondo. Many are roughly 5,000 to 7,000 square feet, which can mean more conventional yards and a less vertical style of living than buyers encounter in Golden Hills or many newer townhome developments.

Beryl Heights sits inland from King Harbor and the Pier without being far removed from them. For buyers who want South Redondo but do not need to live directly beside the beach or marina, it offers another way to stay close to the coastal side of the city while looking primarily at detached homes and established residential streets.

The elevation is part of the appeal, but it also means individual properties can differ considerably. Slope, driveway grade, retaining conditions, privacy and actual views can vary from house to house, so those details matter more here than the neighborhood name alone might suggest.
