TRW / El Nido and Inland North Redondo
Postwar detached homes on larger lots.

The neighborhood
What buyers should know
The eastern side of North Redondo includes two areas that are worth knowing separately: TRW Tract in the northeast and El Nido farther south.
TRW Tract is unusual for North Redondo because it is made up of single-family homes rather than the mix of townhomes and multi-home developments found in much of the surrounding area. Many of the homes date from the postwar years, and lots can be substantially larger than the narrow lots found in Golden Hills. The neighborhood takes its name from the former TRW aerospace campus across Manhattan Beach Boulevard, now part of Northrop Grumman. Anderson Park, Aviation Park and the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center are also nearby.
For a buyer who wants a traditional detached house with a yard, TRW can be one of the more interesting parts of North Redondo. The larger lots have also allowed some older homes to be expanded or replaced with much larger houses over time.
El Nido is at the southeastern end of North Redondo along the Torrance border. Much of the neighborhood was originally developed with detached homes on more conventional-sized lots, and many properties still have the front and back yards that are harder to find in denser parts of the Beach Cities. Older homes, remodeled homes and newer replacements all appear here.
El Nido is farther from the beach than Golden Hills or the Villas, but its location works well for buyers who spend more of their time traveling east or south through the South Bay. Torrance shopping and services are close, and El Nido Park provides a large neighborhood recreation area nearby.
This gives the eastern end of North Redondo a real reason to be on the page: TRW for its concentration of detached homes and larger lots; El Nido for its older single-family housing, yards and Torrance-side location.
