The Villas in Redondo Beach

The neighborhood

What buyers should know

The Villas cover a large part of North Redondo and are usually divided into Villas North and Villas South. For a buyer, the more important point is that this is one of the parts of Redondo where the housing choices become noticeably broader. You will see older detached houses, newer townhomes, and many two- and three-home developments, sometimes on the same street.

One reason buyers look here is space. Compared with Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and the parts of Redondo closest to the ocean, the Villas can give buyers more opportunities to find a larger or newer home without leaving the Beach Cities. That can make the area particularly interesting to someone who cares more about the house itself — bedrooms, interior square footage, garage space or newer construction — than being able to walk to the beach.

The location is also practical. The Villas are inland, with access to Artesia Boulevard, Aviation Boulevard and the commercial areas of North Redondo. Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance and the rest of the South Bay are still nearby, but day-to-day life here is more residential and car-oriented than it is near the coast.

The housing does require a little more attention because two homes that look very similar from the listing can be set up very differently. A townhome may be attached or detached, and a two- or three-home property may have a shared driveway, common maintenance obligations or condominium ownership. Those details matter, but they are also part of why the Villas offer so many different choices at a given price point.

Buyer questions

What buyers ask about this neighborhood

What is the difference between Golden Hills and the Villas in North Redondo?

Golden Hills is closer to Hermosa Beach and is known for narrow lots and vertically designed detached homes; the Villas are farther inland and offer a much broader mix of detached homes, townhomes and two- and three-home developments.

For many buyers, the tradeoff is Golden Hills' location versus the greater variety of housing available in the Villas.
